Screen Will Not See/Connect to the Server

If the rest of your screens can see the server, the issue probably stems from either an IP address conflict, network wiring issue, or Micro SD card issue.

1) Restart the screen

  • Place an Admin level card on the beerwall screen
  • Scroll to the bottom
    • Press the green "restart" button
    • Press "confirm"
  • After reboot, if the screen does not connect, continue to Step 2

2) Check the IP address settings

  • Place an Admin level card on the beerwall screen
  • Scroll down to Device configuration
    • Press "Network configuration"
  • Ensure the network settings here make sense for your location
    • Note: Most locations use a static IP scheme (Ex. IP: 192.168.1.10x Subnet: 255.255.255.0, rest remain blank)
    • You want to make sure the IP address is unique for every beerwall screen/check-in area/server in your system.
  • Go back/Save:
    • Press the back arrow at the top left corner to go back without saving
    • Press the Enter button at the bottom right followed by the arrow under it to save.
  • Test for connectivity
    • Press the "Select Server" button. It is gray and on the left.
    • Discovering servers will display and moments later the list should populate. Note: "Discovering Server" notification will always show.
      • If a server populates, select it and login using the Administrator credentials.
      • If no servers populate, continue to step 3.

3) Check for network wiring issues

  • Remove the screen from the wall
    • Small 1.5mm (1/16 will work, but is a risk of stripping) grub screws located on the top/bottom or left/right edges of the screen must be loosened a few turns.
      • If your screen is a X5 (silver frame around the glass) then you will need to also unscrew the screen frame from the wall.
  • Remove the gray metal protective box from the back of the screen by taking the 3 small nuts off the back.
    • The network wire connects to the bottom of the gray protective box and continues inside to the bottom board network connection.
  • The bottom board network connection should have a Green and Orange light that may blink, if present continue to step 4.
    • If lights are not present and/or blinking, try reconnecting the network wire
    • If lights are still not present, follow the network wire from the screen and check for connection issues.
    • Ultimately the network wire plugs into a Network Switch or Router, check that the switch/router is powered on (usually will have other lights on/blinking).
    • If unable to get a connection, please contact your local network technician for assistance.

4) Rewriting the Micro SD memory card. (Note: you will need to contact PMB support at (312) 416-9989 ext. 2 to be given the necessary software)

  • Unplug the power connector/s at the top left corner of the top computer board.
    • The power connectors use Black and Red wires. If you have 2 sets, unplug both.
  • Remove the Micro SD memory card located along the right edge of the bottom computer board, just below the network wire connection.
    • Please remember to never remove or install a Micro SD memory card while the power connectors are plugged into the unit. Power must be off at all times during these next steps.
  • Take the Micro SD memory card to a check-in area and insert it fully into the Minix PC.
    • The slot will be labeled "tf"
    • The card must fully plug into the "tf" slot.
  • Write the Micro SD memory card using the HDDRawCopy program supplied by PMB.
    • Note: the version of software you use will depend on your location.
  • Reinstall finished Micro SD memory card into the beerwall screen.
  • Plug the power connector/s in.
  • Ensure the system boots up normally and responds to touch and RFID cards.
  • Reinstall screen into the wall.
  • If these steps did not work, it may be time to replace the Micro SD card.
    • Micro SD card must be at least a 8gb card of at least class 10 speed.
