Like any other computer, sometimes the beerwall screens will freeze or fail to boot. Most of the time this issue can be fixed by power cycling the screen or rewriting the memory card.
1) Power cycle the screen. This can be done differently depending on the way the system was installed.
- Remove the screen from the wall
- Small 1.5mm (1/16 will work, but is a risk of stripping) grub screws located on the top/bottom or left/right edges of the screen must be loosened a few turns.
- If your screen is a X5 (silver frame around the glass) then you will need to also unscrew the screen frame from the wall.
- Small 1.5mm (1/16 will work, but is a risk of stripping) grub screws located on the top/bottom or left/right edges of the screen must be loosened a few turns.
- Remove the gray metal protective box from the back of the screen by taking the 3 small nuts off the back.
- Unplug the power connector/s at the top left corner of the top computer board.
- The power connectors use Black and Red wires. If you have 2 sets, unplug both.
- Wait 5-10 seconds and plug the power back in.
- Ensure the system boots up normally and responds to touch and RFID cards
- Reinstall screen in reverse order
- Continue to step 2 if same symptoms persist.
2) Rewriting the Micro SD memory card. (Note: you will need to contact PMB support at (312) 416-9989 ext. 2 to be given the necessary software)

- Remove the Micro SD memory card located along the right edge of the bottom computer board, just below the network wire connection.
- Please remember to never remove or install a Micro SD memory card while the power connectors are plugged into the unit. Power must be off at all times during these next steps.
- Take the Micro SD memory card to a check-in area and insert it fully into the Minix PC.
- The slot will be labeled "tf"
- The card must fully plug into the "tf" slot.
- Write the Micro SD memory card using the HDDRawCopy program supplied by PMB.
- Note: the version of software you use will depend on your location.
- Reinstall finished Micro SD memory card into the beerwall screen.
- Plug the power connector/s in.
- Ensure the system boots up normally and responds to touch and RFID cards.
- Reinstall screen into the wall.
- If these steps did not work, it may be time to replace the Micro SD card.
- Micro SD card must be at least a 8gb card of at least class 10 speed.
